Why am I seeing “Estimated Tax” at checkout?Updated a month ago

We understand it can be a little confusing to see "Estimated Tax" when placing your order—so here’s a quick breakdown of what’s happening and why.

What is Estimated Tax?

At checkout, we show you an estimated tax amount based on the information available at that moment (like your shipping address). Because tax rates can vary by location—even within the same state—the final tax is calculated after your order is placed, once all your order details are confirmed.

Will I be charged more later?

No surprises—your payment method is only authorized for the estimated total when you place your order. Once the final tax is confirmed:

  • If the final tax is less than the estimate: you’ll be charged the lower amount, and the difference will be released back to your card.

  • If the final tax is slightly more than the estimate: your card will be re-authorized for the updated total. If funds aren’t available, we’ll send you an email so you can complete the payment.

Where can I see the final tax?

You’ll see the final tax amount in your order confirmation email or text. Your Order Status page will also update once the tax is finalized.
